The installation Eclipse doubled as an outdoor performance site during SkowheganPERFORMS at Socrates Sculpture Park, September 27, 2014. I gathered scattered chunks of concrete and joined them with dowels and wet mortar mix to create a figurative sculpture titled Awaken. This imitation of archaeology and conservation is also an attempt to connect with my ancestors by reconstructing an unknowable history. Cycladic sculptures are bookends to contemporary figuration. As time progresses and technology improves we are able to learn more about the ancient past.
