Weighting takes it’s form from a 16th century scale used by Dutch merchants. This used barrel, pulled from a body of water in Houston, TX, is leafed with gold mylar insulation to imply the contents are precious. These industrial barrels were designed with the impression of two rings around their girth, a skeuomorph to the old wooden barrels the Dutch Merchants would have used. Their past is embodied in their design.
